Saturdays
I love Saturdays. You know why? Because I do ALL of the laundry on Saturdays. It gets ALL done and clean and I know that my kids will be wearing their cutest and nicest clothes on Sunday because they were just made clean on Saturday.
So once again I spent all day relaxing except for my one chore of moving clothes from washer to dryer all day. Oh oh, we don’t fold on Saturdays. In fact, I never fold. That is not my job. My job is to see to it that the clothes get washed. The children do the folding and putting away. That happens on Monday and they are pretty fast about it. We have a system and with 6 kids working diligently it takes about an hour from start to finish. Not bad.
I am feeling pretty good this particular Saturday because my sheets and several comforters also were washed. Not to mention an area rug from a bathroom upstairs. Extra points for me! ;)
My now clean clothes will remain in heaps and mounds in the hallway just outside the master bedroom and laundry room (these are not the SAME room, just adjacent to each other) until Monday. This does not bother me. I will occasionally scoop up stray clothes as they fall off the piles and into what is left of the walk way. But never ever would I fold them and put them away. That would be un-American. My children need something to do to earn them a good work ethic. Far be it from me to keep from them a great opportunity to do a job well done and feel that warm fuzzy of accomplishment. They would say the same. Well, maybe they would if I gave them each a dollar. But that is neither here nor there.
In addition to laundry being done we had an old friend stop by. Well, she is not old – but we have known each other for 4 years so she is like almost family, you know? We see her more often anyway. Hannah brought her daughter, Zoe, over and it was nice to see them. Hannah is a bit confused about what she is doing with her life but, …well, some times these things happen. All in all, it was a nice day.
I think I’ll go eat some ice cream.
