Update 3 of 4
And then we made it to MO!! HOORAH!! This looks like home!!

My view.

Whatcha think Diane?

Official arrival!

And then another tragedy. I didn’t know Jenna got a picture of Jeff driving on the shoulder and pulling off the freeway. Here it is. He pulled off the freeway because I saw his wheel go flying off the trailer and across traffic into the median. I radioed to him “You just lost a tire!”

This is what we saw when we stopped. The “studs” (I think that’s what those screws are called) had all broken off!! Now what?

Well thankfully we had pulled into this company’s parking lot!! Unfortunately, their offices were closed and their phone number disconnected!!

Of course it was Sunday late afternoon…maybe evening? Jeff wanted us to sit on the side of the road while he called around for help and/or ran to WalMart to get “parts”. I had a better idea. We were stranded in Joplin. You know how many people we know (as in we have phone numbers) in Missouri? One family. You know where they live? Yep. Joplin. So I called Vicki…remember this family from our visit to MO back in November? She was 10 minutes away!! HOORAH!!
The best part of this story is we had planned dinner with this family for this day. That morning Jeff had asked me to call and cancel because we were all so tired and dirty and we just wanted to get home. When the trailer threw a wheel and we were sitting in the parking lot of an old gas station I said to Jenna “You know who lives in Joplin, don’t you?” And she said “So much for Dad’s plans!!”
So Vicki’s husband Chuck came with one vehicle and Vicki brought another. Vicki took us to her house and Chuck took Jeff to WalMart. The guys were done in an hour and we all enjoyed dinner and fellowship at Vicki’s!!
And some of us played dress up. :)

Here are Vicki’s clowns and my kids. Ok, some of mine are looking kinda silly as well.

Then back on the road to Ozark!!

Okay, I’m fairly convinced that we should just let U-Move move our stuff when we leave LOL
Glad that you made it MO! Can’t wait to read update #4!

Great stuff you put up, and awesome job with the tire!
However, the MO sign and the gorgeous landscape pics made me a bit teary…my best friend lives in MO (Springfield area), and I miss her! Okay, enough with my wailing. ;)
Actually, that reminded me, the family of my best friend (they have 12 kids) has done homebirths all along, and I know you were wondering where you were going to get a good midwife. Perhaps I can hook you up with them or their daughter who has also had 2 homebirths (waterbirths), and get a a midwife contact for you!? Let me know if you’d like me to ask them to pop over here to your blog. :)
Anyway, I look forward to the 4th installment!
God bless,
Sheila

I’m GLAD Vicki was there to rescue you, even if it did turn some of your kids into a clown.

Oh, Katie…MO is beautiful! Such a welcome change from AZ, I’m sure! Moving is such a hassle!! I’m sorry for all your tire troubles. Wish I could be there to help, but I’m sure glad God’s got your in His palm of His great hand throughout it all.
To the other commenter: never use U-Haul! My move from Oregon to Central CA was a three day long nightmare because of that company. I’ll have to blog about it sometime!
Momma, whose looking forward to Part 4, too!

Oh, I didn’t mean U-Haul! I meant ABF U-Move. You load the truck and they drive it. They have very good reviews and my mom used them a couple of months ago to move from Oregon to South Carolina. :)
