No babies, just dancing!!

Ok, here is the deal.  If all is quiet it is because I’m off playing or knitting or DANCING.  And as soon as I go into labor I’ll post a big entry here letting y’all know.  And with my fast labors (2 hours with Jonah!!) y’all can just sit and refresh, refresh, refresh until Jeff posts pictures of my beautiful Jodi.

So this is what we did last night.  Amber and Angela invited us to an English Country dance that was to be held here in Ozark.  All of the attendees were homeschool families.  Did you hear what I said?  FAMILIES.  Not just teenagers.  Not just parents.  EVERYONE was invited.  That is our type of fun!!  My kids had danced with Amber and Angela so they knew what to expect but in the end it was a BLAST and we all had way more fun than we were expecting to!!  Jeff even danced even though he had convinced himself he would not have a good time.  I forgot to take pictures but one dance was with me. :D  I swooned over my dancing husband.  I paid for it with a rough night of muscle pain but it was so worth it. :)

Due to the snowstorm (pictures to follow later) we were expecting last night Amber and Angela couldn’t come down so that was a bummer.  We so enjoy their company and were looking forward their visit.  Oh btw, A&A they talked last night about making this a monthly thing.  So maybe in January we will see you??

On with the fun!!  This dancing is similar to what you see in Pride and Prejudice or maybe like square dancing minus the funny skirts.  The rules were the boys had to ask the girls to dance and if the girl was standing she could not refuse the offer.  And nobody, save the married and engaged, could dance with the same person more than twice. :)  I thought it all worked out really well.  There were well over 100 people there of all ages.  Just look.

There is my Jason in the green stripes and Jessica in the green skirt.  I don’t think any of my kids danced with their siblings.

Jacob and a girl getting ready to go under the bridge.  The couple then skips down the middle and stops at the end.   This might explain the sweat dripping off of everyone by the end of the night!!

A different dance.  My John in the middle.

Jason being oh so handsome.

I love this.  I love that the older homeschool girls are not snotty like typical public school teens.  My boys were so flattered that they could ask an older girl to dance and everyone was so kind to them.  Of course there was a shortage of men so everyone was glad to get a chance on the dance floor.  More than one girl stood in as a guy. :)  Look at Josiah.  Even the littles were included!!

Jenna and a friend making the bridge.  Sometimes this was comical process if the bridge makers were very little people.  There was alot of laughing and fun.

Jessica and a friend swinging.

More swinging.

Swing John!!

My girlies waiting for the next dance.  Junie only danced once because she would only dance with Jeff.  Jillian didn’t want to dance and Lina didn’t find a partner until the end.

This is what Jonah did while everyone danced and I visited.  Next time I’ll bring him proper sleeping arrangements.

 Josiah and his little partner.

Getting some help with the moves.

Another dance, another partner.  I am so thankful for the practice we got here at home with A&A.

Lina danced.

Uh oh, Lina lost her partner.

And when you are not dancing you can just run around in circles.

And run.

I’m inviting you all to come to the next dance.  JOIN US!!!

Lol…can’t - you live too far away!

We’ll just have to settle for the contra dancing night here…though one with over 100 people would be even more fun!

OH! How incredibly FUN! I would go with you all in a heartbeat if we were in MO. I Loved the family atmosphere. I was perturbed when our homeschool Christmas potluck was MOMS ONLY. Hmph! I’m not going.

I’m so envious!! And I know A & A are! They were really disappointed that the weather was being so crazy and THEN it didn’t even snow until yesterday afternoon!! They could have gone after all. : ( But it would be great if they do it every month, then we might ALL get to go. I’m really glad you guys got to go and that the kids had a great time!

The girl in the pretty red formal and the white gloves is a good friend of A & A’s. They live there in Ozark and her dad is a dentist and she does the cleanings. So, when you need your teeth cleaned you can go visit her. : )

Looks fun! I’m beginning to reconsider my husband’s desire to move to “a small town in the Midwest where it snows” …

Looks like a GREAT time. I’m ready to dance . . . so where’s the music?? Glad you all got to go and have some fun. It also looks like it was a good atmosphere for your boys to learn to be young men and your girls to be young ladies. Having older people to set a good example and be an encouragement is a great thing.
