Horsefest

We are going HERE today.  I’ll be sure to post pics tomorrow.

You’ve all heard the stories about my FAS kids.

This is what Lina looks like when she is playing by herself because she can’t be trusted with others.

This is what Lina looks like when she is refusing to eat the food she just asked for.

My intention was to take a picture of each time I had to correct Lina, or separate Lina, or remind Lina, or move something away from her reach, or contain Lina or each time she had to put her hand on her mouth.  But I found that if I documented everything she did that was naughty it left no other time for things like eating and breathing.  I may be exaggerating a little but only a little.

I’m leaving Lina and some others home with Jeff today.  I feel good about that.

    Katie,
I talked to you a few weeks ago about this happening with my 2 year old, Joshua, who was drug addicted when born and whose mother drank while pregnant.

It’s amazing to me how you keep doing “life” with a child like this constantly acting this way and don’t lose your mind in the process. I am training Joshua to sit and he is doing better, but we’re still getting stuck at the “where’d he go” after I glance over where he’s supposed to be sitting and he’s not not there after the 10th time of disciplining and putting him back in the spot he’s supposed to be sitting at. And the spot he sits at is only less than 5-8 feet away from me! I don’t get it. I’ll have to try closer.

What is it that you see the Lord working in you through children like Lina? Because if it ispatience, I have a looooonng way to go.

I totally understand. I have one like that, too. I remember the SW telling me to document everything. There wasn’t enough time in the day to document everything!

I know this has nothing to do with this post( I am a little slow) but I was wondering how you acquire kefir grains? I recently started buying raw milk, and I have bought kefir and liked it, so i was considering making my own, but I have no idea how to start. But by the way, Lina does look so cute!! ( but I have a little trouble maker of my own, and she is so cute, nobody ever suspects her)

Believe me, I have a 13 yo BOY who looked just like that when he was little, and the sad part is…..HE STILL DOES!! It’s always 2 steps forward, 3 steps back with FAS and it gets very, very tiring. We adopted him as a baby and I just never had a clue that it would be like this or that he even had this issue until he got “older but not wiser”. Hang in there - you’re absolutely right, if you only focus on what she’s doing wrong, there won’t be any time left for anything else in the day - or for anyone else.

Katie, I think its great how you just love, love, love your littles through their “issues”. I pray for you often even though I only know of you through the shed and your blog.

My best friend’s mother growing up did fostercare for children with special needs and I saw just a little of all the issues she dealt with on a daily basis.

I bet you don’t like to hear it, but I really think this is your ministry. Blessing, loving, and encouraging the challenging, sweet, and perhaps sometimes infuriating children that the Lord has given you.

Never grow weary in well doing.

Thanks for stopping by! Things must be bad in my house if it is a crazier week than you have ever had! LOL! You have 12 kids, five of them adopted with special needs! I have two - no, four- no, six - no make that five??????? Actually it depends on what day you ask me as to how many kids I have today! Still several less than you have. Thanks for the prayers, and how do you administer Magnesium? It is a tablet or liquid or what? Need to get some for when he gets back if not before.

She is so adorable….she doesn’t look like she minds playing alone.

Loads of fun! I know :)… She is cute, I always think it is a blessing to them that they are cute. In this fun little way we can find the Joy of the Lord in them even when they can be so frustrating! Hang in there, my DD is worlds different then she was when we first adopted her, love, care and time…. I have to remind myself of her new progress all the time, so I remember to have faith :).

Hmm…can’t help but wonder if the problem with the food is what you’re feeding her. None of my children will eat pattern blocks:)
