Frapaccino

So after my family met Debbie and kids at Starbuck’s/Barnes & Noble for some yummidy coffee goodness and I only treated Jenna the other kids were pining for a some sort of caffeinated beverage. So Jenna and I whipped this up.

Ingredients:

1.5 cups milk

1.5 cups double strength coffee

one dropperful stevia

2 T cocoa

Ice

Whipped cream

Dump the 1.5 cups coffee in the blender. This is an imperative part of the assembling process. If the ingredients do not go in the proper small appliance you will not end up with the correct end result.

Black coffee is not yummy. Add 1.5 cups milk. Now you are happy again.

Add cocoa, stevia and ice. Begin to salivate.

Blend well. Your life appears to be all a dream of perfection.

Frothy goodness. Not done yet.

Whipped cream. YUM-O

Everyone loved this and then I put them in bed where they could buzz until they fell asleep.

MMMMMMMM We make them here too all the time in the summer. I use instant coffee grounds and melt them in a very small amount of super hot water and I add Hershey’s Syrup.

I add the chocolate because..well …..while I love the smell of coffee, the taste leaves something to be desired! Everything else we do the same except add stevia, because I have no idea what it is:)

That looks great! What a nice mom you are to make those for everyone!
My daughters would love it if we made that, they are coffee drinkers (when they can get it) I dislike coffee, I’ve tired so many types and I can’t stand the taste.

Looks like a great recipe - I’ll give it to my barista, he’s 15 and the best mochacino maker I know and just happens to be my wonderful son too!

The key to good coffee is to purchase freshly roasted beans (purchase within 48 hours of roasting) then grind and immediately brew in espresso machine, not drip maker. The coffee will taste as good as it smells!!!

Katie! What a fun mom! I loved seeing the pic of all the colored cups lined up. I can’t wait to have a passel of kids myself to do fun stuff like this with. :) Sometimes I forget that you don’t really know me because I read your blog and you seem like a good friend. Then I want to just say, “Oh Katie, I could just hug you!” But you might recoil in horror at the thought of some relative stranger saying something like that, so I usually refrain from commenting. ;)

Mmmmm, we make a yummy, unhealthy version of these. I don’t serve them to my kids. Perhaps I could if I do the stevia version and decaf coffee. You witnessed the results of serving them the real thing. :)

I can’t even get my kids to actually DRINK the hot chocolate they forever ask me to make for them. Even if I make it barely warm.

But for me…that looks yummy. Probably smells yummy too.

..oh, and yes, I’ve stopped buying/making hot chocolate since it never actually is consumed.

I tried yesterday afternoon. Last summer I was really good at making these, but I guess I didn’t make the coffee strong enough yesterday. Yucky and watery. Ah well. Next time! :)

Oh those look SO good! I love frapaccinos but I rarely get them because they are so expensive. (I’ll bet your version doesn’t cost $5/glass !) :-)
Would it work with instant coffee, because we don’t have a coffee maker at home?

Sounds yummy. My favorite Starbucks drink is the Vanilla Bean Frapp that has no coffee in it at all. Now I need to do some experimenting to come up with a recipe for that! Thanks Katie, you inspired me! :-)
