Jodi in Hospital

When it rains it pours. On Monday evening I took Jodi to the urgent care for vomiting and diarrhea. She was dehydrated and they started an IV and started cultures. Tuesday nothing grew. We assumed it was a virus. Wednesday nothing grew but Jodi was still ill. Today they ran blood and found that Jodi’s sodium was very low and potassium very high. This can cause seizures and even death. She was immediately given meds to bring those numbers where they need to be.
The doc is guessing this may be either something called intestinal stenosis (narrowing of the intestines) or Addison’s (adrenal failure). Jodi was moved to the PICU and a PICC line is being placed (I’m having deja vu).
Please pray for baby Jodi. This is not fun.

Oh, i am so sorry for you all. It makes me sad anytime i hear of a little one being sick and you guys had your fair share last year.

Oh Katie. I’m praying and will have the children too. Frankie especially is upset as he reads the boys’ blogs and both he and Cassie would pray for Jillian. Our prayers are with you guys. I can’t imagine how hard this must be for all of you.

Katie, I know what it’s like to be in the hospital with a little one. I’m so sorry you’re having to go through it again. I pray that fear will not overwhelm you and that you will be strengthened by the power of God. He is a merciful God, even though we cannot always see the way clearly.

I do know someone whose baby had the intestinal stenosis that wasn’t caught. Their whole family had the stomach flu and they thought he was just sick also. What a blessing you took her in!

We are praying. Our great-nephew born 1/2/08 just had surgery for similar intestine issue and he did very well. I thought of him when I heard about Jodi because he did the same throwing up thing starting 3 or 4 weeks ago. Praying for a swift “fix” and that you are both able to come home quickly.
