Is Today the Day?

Well, all of the labs look good.  Everybody is very pleased with Jodi’s progress.  They turned off the IV last night and she is feeding well enough to keep her fluids up.  The doc came in and asked what I wanted to do if the endocrinologist is not comfortable sending Jodi home without a prescription for Florinef.  You see, there were labs sent out to test her adrenals but they had to go out of state to Mayo Clinic so the results won’t be back until Wednesday.  So the doc wants to know if we would rather take the Rx or stay in hospital until labs come back.

I told him I’d have to talk to Jeff.  Now, after thinking about it, the truth is there is another option.  Why couldn’t we come in to the hospital every 12 or 24 hours and have a heel prick done to test her levels.  I mean, that is all they are going to do here.

These are pictures out our 7th story window.  They were taken on Tuesday when I awoke to find this fabulous view of the city of Springfield.  Since spending a week here "in town" I have come to really enjoy it.  I swear, it is beautiful ALL THE TIME.  Saturday I walked out to snow flurries.  SNOW FLURRIES!!  How did that happen?  And although I only had a light jacket with me it wasn’t a big deal because, heck, I was going to my environment controlled vehicle.

Doc just came in (I don’t call him doc to his face) and he says so long as all goes well today we will go home this evening.  He wants us to come in for heel pricks once a week until the lab results come back and we consult with the pediatric endocrinologist.  Looks like we will be home soon!!

Oh my goodness! I haven’t been checking blogs like I usually do and I missed all of Miss Jodi’s hospital stay. I am so glad to hear your sweet babe is doing better.

We just spent several days with my father at St. John’s in Springfield last Thanksgiving when he had sextuple heart bypass. I can remember being anxious for him to be released, but I don’t recall ever taking the time to look out the window of his room at the view. I’m glad you did. The view is pretty, isn’t it!
