Update on the Property - Part IV

April 17, 2008

Written by: Katie

After Jeff had given all the kids an admonition about staying dry he took off hiking up the bluff on the other side of the creek.  And we were left all alone with a large body of water and 10 children and sticks.  That is surely a recipe for fun.  No doubt about it.

Immediately the children wanted to just get their feet wet.  Come on Mom, just up to our ankles.  Being the nice mom that I am, of course I allowed this.

They appear to be wading in a bit deeper than ankles but you know, everyone is dry so it is all good.

How can I resist this face?

Ummm…hey I’m really proud that you made it through the torrent without falling down but it looks like your pants are wet.

Then they just booked it up the creek.  They were probably trying to escape the hovering I was doing and constant reminders to keep their clothes dry.  Or not.  Do you see Joshua?  No?  Could that be because he was almost completely submerged in this picture?

It appears not all my children have the sure footedness of mountain goats.  Here is Joshua finding his feet for just a moment before the current knocked him down once again.  Doesn’t he looked like he is having a blast?  I only laughed a little bit.

He couldn’t hear me anyway.  He was too far upstream.  The good news is I could have intercepted him had he chosen to float all the way downstream.  Here is Jason giving Joshua a hand.  He retreated to the bank after his recovery.

This is Jason going as deep as he can without getting his pants wet.  Isn’t he talented?

And then there was Donut.  It appears that he may be getting his rear end wet.

Um, ya.

Forget it.  Just sit in the water.

In part V we will explore property lines, burn piles and the correct use of fire arms.  While you are waiting please take my poll here.

This reminds me of my children at the Beach during our anniversary trip in March! They didn’t care that it was freezing! They wanted IN that water! LOL!

What fun! Wish I could join in. I’ve never been a big one for beaches but I love lakes, rivers and streams!!

I think I’ll probably post creek pictures tomorrow. Come see, if you feel like it. They’re not quite so exciting, though. :-)
