Jodi Update

Someone asked about Jodi and her blood tests. She still goes weekly for a heel prick but we will likely change that to intravenous blood draw due to the events of this week. It has come to our attention through our education via Internet that a heel prick to test potassium is not very accurate. What happens is under stress your muscles dump potassium into the blood stream. So when the phlebotomist "milks" Jodi’s little foot in effort to fill the tiny vial she is actually creating more potassium in her sample.
So Monday morning I received a call from the doctor stating that Jodi’s potassium was elevated and asking if we could come in for a venous blood draw. We went in on Tuesday only to find out that her potassium is just fine. We still have to visit said doctor next Wednesday and eventually see a pediatric endocrinologist. Don’t ask me why, I don’t know. Since Jodi has been feeling so good she has been doing the baby thing.
Hanging out on the floor.
Eating her hand.
Checking out the world around her.
Saying hello to you!!

You Bettendorfs sure enjoy your nakedness. :)

Oh, yeah, go ahead and post adorable baby pics to throw off the dart throwers. ;) We like naked babies here too. It took forever to convince Ally that she must wear clothing in public. Well, she has to wear it all the time now, but she’s four. :)

She is SO precious!
I’m glad to hear that her tests came back okay. You are doing such a great job advocating for your kids with the doctors.
Blessings,
Michelle

Jodi is darling!
Where did you find the vibrant paisley item on which she is laying? If it is a fabric from which you made the item, what fabric store carries it?
I made it. I got the material at Joann’s about 18 months ago. It is flannel. -Katie

Thanks for the tip. I have never seen a flannel like that at our JoAnn’s but I will cross my fingers and scour the local ones.

Awww… she is precious! And that diaper– WOW. I love it! (well, as much as one can love a diaper when one does not have children in diapers anymore).
Thanks for the b-day wishes and stopping by my blog! I really appreciate it, my friend.
