Since I now know what almost 200 of my readers are looking for in a church my next question is…

My current church situation is…

OKay so my option isn’t there LOL! We attend a church, like it pretty well, I think we’ll be here for a good while, but I don’t feel peace that it’s where we’ll be forever. We’re not actively searching out a new church, just seeking to be where God wants us and for now that’s at our current church.

We felt strongly guided to the church we are now members of. We know the Lord wants us where he has us. At present, we have no intention of changing our church body - with that said, I don’t know the Lord’s plans so I can’t necessarily say ‘forever’ (although I did on your poll) :)

My response isn’t there his time either :D LOL. We are in a great church, but have to/want to relocate across the country next year. We know the town we are going to and it doesn’t have a church we will attend. We will be helping to start a new one with some other families we know there.

BTW We are moving from SoCal, where there seem to be an abundance of healthy churches, to the Bible belt (specifically Mississippi) where they seem to be scarce! Go figure.

I have to pretty much copy what Kim said. My option isn’t there either. LOL! We just went through a search for a church. We looked and looked and finally found one. Praise GOD!!

We’ve been there since September. It’s fun to learn the new things. It’s a smaller church so we are getting to serve more… we are enjoying our time there!

I’m thrilled with the church and the closer to our home location.

Oh at least I’m not alone…we’re at what I’d consider is the best church for us in our area at this time. There are many like minded families but at the same time too much emphasis on programs and youth group type stuff. My dh recently was elected on the elder board and is being led to share family oriented stuff. We are hopeful that it will help the people to expand their ideas of how to minister. I can’t say “forever” though.

I picked the one closest to my situation, but it’s not 100% perfect. But at least I voted this time! :)

I voted “I have found a great church. Hope we stay here forever.” However, at this time my hubby isn’t attending anymore. It isn’t really because of the church; he likes it, but he is going through some spiritual stuff right now and has pretty much withdrawn from that part of his life, and except for his family, all of the people from that part as well.

It’s sad because he is stagnant in his faith at best, losing it at worst. :( So, even though I love where we are and he is happy that we go, I really want him to take interest again. If that meant leaving church and doing more of a home-church thing, or finding a new church, great. I’d follow his lead anywhere. And, yes, he knows that.

Like I said on the last question, we attend there because that’s where we both felt God place us. I still feel the same and until God or Dustin tells me otherwise it’s where the boys and I will stay. But forever? That’s a long time and I can’t know for sure.

We have served with the church where we attend for over 11 years, and unless the Lord moves us, plan to stay. We are on our fourth or fifth trip through the Bible!

The more I grow in certain areas of my beliefs, the less I think we’ll be at our current church forever… but… I’m not sure where we’d go. We’d move to be by a ‘better’ church, but my dh’s job is one that he lives on the facility (we get FREE housing!), so that won’t happen. I would love to go to a church that had the same doctrine, but was more hsing minded, more courtship minded, more raising daughters for keeping a home and being a wife and mother minded.

I’d say “We are involved and serving in a church located in the community where we live. We plan to stay as long as we live here”. We are “Don’t plan to go and don’t plan to stay” kind of people. We don’t look too far down the road and want to be open to God’s leading in our life.

My church is awesome, as close to perfect as they get, and I hope we stay there for the rest of our lives.

  13. Sheila said:

Well, I’m not going to vote, because frankly, we’re in a church, we like it well enough, and will likely stay there until we move, but there are things I would change…

  14. Jen said:

Well, the church we like and would go to is an hour and a half away. We have been going regularly lately cause DH is working that direction. But we would love to find something closer to home, we’ve been looking the last 2 years and haven’t found anywhere we’ve stayed.
So, we will either keep looking but not sure where - just make the drive - or look at moving closer that direction……….

Here’s another poll question - how far would you drive to a church? That met your needs doctrinally/growing spiritual and had the fellowship aspect your family needed at this point?

As I said in the previous thread, I think we’ve just found the right church for us. In which case I’d pick the first option. But since I’ve only visited and not joined, I can’t really vote for that option, can I? LOL

  16. Anne said:

My option isn’t on there either. We like our church, love the people, but have some problems with it. I don’t see us leaving anytime soon. There just isn’t another church in our area that would be acceptable. And of course, God is in control so who knows what will happen!

  17. Amy said:

I’m with Anne. We like our church, it’s the most Biblical for rural Florida. But it is made up of human beings, so it (and any other on this side) will never be perfect. How about a survey on what we as individuals could and SHOULD do to make our situation better?

  18. Kelly said:

I chose the first option. I love our church and hope to stay here forever.

I’m just suprised Ginger hasn’t chimed in yet ;)

We like our church. We also are just resting in the Lord’s will for where we are for now. Our church is very like minded, family orientated, etc however I don’t know if we will be here forever. If we move, we will seek out a church that holds to similar principals and values.

  20. Anne said:

You need another option. One like, “We attend a church that’s not perfect, but still a blessing.”

Honestly, ours isn’t perfect. I wish some things were different. I hope someday they will be! But it’s got many positives and I’m certainly not looking for another at this time.

I love our church. However, I would love to find a church with more “like minded” people. This is where God has us right now. DH is an Elder and we are at a place where we can have an influence on the people around us. So this is where we will stay. At least until my daughter gets youth group age and people actually realize we are not kidding when we say, “No youth group for our kids…”

  22. Donielle said:

The options don’t really fit us either. :-) After some looking around and not finding exactly what we wanted, we decided to go back to the church we went to growing up. (where we met) We like it, but think in some ways the changes the church has made don’t fit us. Or more, the changes the members have made - since the doctrine has stayed the same. I’m also not a huge fan of the kids program so as our 2 yr old gets older, we may move on just to find a program that we feel really feeds him spiritually. We have been getting involved, me especially, with the kids stuff, so hopefully I can help move it in the right direction. Sometimes it might be nice to have more conservative, ‘like-minded’ folks, but I think this is where God has us now.

I’ve been to several churches I really loved. Just living far away from them all now. They do exist!
