Organized Religion

After reading what y’all are are looking for and then seeing that most of you have found what you are looking for I want to say that I have hope for the religious institutions of the world.  Maybe things are not as bleak as I once thought.  I appreciate all the votes and insightful comments.  Will you humor me and answer one more question?

The last time I tripped/stumbled and/or fell was…

There has to be some hidden meaning by your use of the word “religion”. Christianity isn’t a religion at all, it’s relationship.
Still trying to figure you out. ;)

If by “tripped, stumbled, fell” you mean physically, then under five years. I was chasing children at the playground and took a nose dive in the sand. Very funny to those around, not so much to me. I did tag the victim, though!

If, since it’s in the context of “Organized Religion” you mean spiritually, then within the last 7 days. I often fail to pray for certain neighbors and get annoyed by them. They happen to live right next door, so many opportunities arise for me to practice forgiveness.

    Ditto Ginger on the relationship!

If only you had asked this 2 days ago I could have said within the hour, and twice!!! I was going to lock up the chickens for the night (during a rain storm) and noticed that one of our (MANY) cats had taken shelter in the chicken coop. So I got up in the coop, got the cat out and jumped down from the coop. Well it was raining and slippery, so I fell. I would say that I fell in the mud, but not much of what is right outside the chicken coop door is actually dirt but rather chicken pooh. Wow, that stuff is slick:) I then got up and walked in front of the coop and slipped again. I was a huge mess by the time I got into the house. My dh and dd had a good laugh at me, I had a shower:)

I’m not going to try to read between the letters - While I don’t agree that my personal relationship with Jesus Christ is a ‘religion’ - it’s a commonly used term in our society to mean people who attend ‘church’ - so I just went with it from there.

Since we believe we are to fellowship together in the name of Jesus Christ, I used that as my ‘organized religion’ since we attend an church commonly recognized as ‘organized religion’.

I feel off the stool when I was hanging clothes when I was pregnant with my son. I am a real clutz when I am pregnant.

Within the last 7 days, regardless of meaning. I physically stumbled yesterday and hurt my pinky toe. Ouch! I have spiritually stumbled as well. Seeing as how I’m still human, (and while I am in the process of being sanctified or whatever word you want to use, I am not perfect) I still make mistakes. Thank God for His grace and help, right?

And I agree with what Christina said regarding the term “religion”. I will not repeat as she put it quite well. :)

Ya learn somethin new ever day. I’ve never heard church attendance referred to as religion. I understood religion to be a fundamental set of beliefs and practices; i.e. Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Muslim, etc, whether those people attend “church” or not.
I personally wouldn’t refer to church as religion unless I was opposed to it.

Umm, religion = works of man.
I wish I shared your optimism for the institution. Yes, I do attend. Do I see any hope? Not really. I guess my hope, and faith, is in Christ. As in the past, a lot of what is done in the name of Christ these days, He has very little, if anything to do with. Read the cover of the latest Christian book. What does it say? This person has the answers to your problem and can help you better walk the walk. No he/she can’t. Only Christ can. When I read that this person has the key to my problem I leave the book on the shelf.
No, I will be a good boy, Katie. But ask that question in the forums and I may not be so nice.

Looks like I’m in a minority with tripping every day! My Dad used to laugh as I fell going UP the stairs (yes, up. Not down!) He would then look at my Mom and say ‘See I told you we should have called her Grace!’ My biggest nightmare was that I would fall over going up the aisle on my wedding day - but I’m happy to report that I managed it without falling. Of course a month later I fell and sprained my ankle and had to get on the plane to fly to England using crutches! Very romantic of course being carried over the thresh hold of my first home carrying crutches with me! NOT!

There ARE still churches out there that are unabashedly proclaiming the Gospel without watering things down to bring in the masses and tickle their ears. They are MASSIVELY outnumbered by the other type, but they are still out there. Perhaps not in every denomination though?

As far as being clumbsy, um, yes. I trip all the time, stub toes, etc. and have fallen - but not recently. I have tripped in the past week though LOL

I haven’t fallen in many years, but I stumble daily. Now if I can keep OTHER people from stumbling, I consider that a victory!

Funny you just asked this. I slipped yesterday while washing the car. Water + soap+ slippery ground+ Crocs (shoes) = landing on your hiney. :) All I could do was laugh, but man it hurt!! :)

And here I thought you meant spiritually…as in a doozy of a sin.

I really can’t remember…of course that means I will probably do one or all today! LOL

I put that I tripped/fell in the past five years. I don’t fall often so when I do, my husband makes a big deal laughing at me over it, lol. Come to think of it, I did trip maybe three weeks ago. I tripped over a child’s leg when I was walking by, but I didn’t fall.

I put in the last hour, even though I never *remember* where all those bruises come from. I can’t go round a corner without banging into it. If there’s a corner sticking out on a table, my leg is going to fall victim to it.

I always thought it was because I was left-handed, maybe?
