that is the question.

You do take some of the weirdest surveys ever! LOL! :o) I voted no shave and another country, but to be fair I stopped shaving while living in the states so that one would apply too. I simply HATE shaving my legs, and since having breast surgery a few years ago I have scar tissue in my armpit that makes shaving really difficult and usually painfull. Somehow if I’m not even shaving my armpits there seems to be even less point in doing my legs!

I guess this is one of those times when I ought not to have checked this blog.
This survey is too much information for me.
Katie, there are times when your blog is more entertaining than Jeff’s forum.

Oh gross! I don’t want to know that there are Americans who don’t shave on purpose. And a lot is two words, drat it all. How many times I gotta tell ya! lol You know these misspellings make me nuts. I think you do it on purpose!

    :P

I do it to drive Jeff crazy. Does it drive you crazy too? BONUS!!! -Katie

I stopped shaving my legs while in England for a study abroad in college. I figured why waste the time when there was no boyfriend around to care? When I got back, I shaved them once then realized that I didn’t care if a boyfriend cared! I did shave or use Nair a few times after getting married but then again decided I just didn’t care enough spend 30 minutes a week doing it (Shaving always cut me up badly). It’s not done on the legs for any health reasons; it’s all just vanity. I think it started when nylons appeared.

I do shave my pits, but that’s for health/smell reasons. If I didn’t sweat so much, I probably wouldn’t do that either. Why waste the time? Not to mention all the expense down the drain of creams, razors, Nair products, et al?

  5. Dana said:

Well, I can’t really vote I don’t think… I do shave my legs and pits. But only very seldom. I’m not a very hairy person. I shave my pits every month or two and my legs probably three times a year.

You still want me to vote?

Katie, just a small peek into your mind??? What sparked your interest in our shaving practices?

I shave my legs, but only to the knees. I wear capri pants or skirts frequently, but can’t remember I left home in shorts. Why waste the effort on the top half of the leg. This is my summer philosophy. In the winter I still shave, but not as often, sometimes going a couple of weeks without seeing the razor.

  8. Linda7NJ said:

I shave pits, legs and bikini line daily! Just the thought of razor stubble gives me the willies. Even if I am sick …I must get up and shave! I can not sleep if I feel the slightest regrowth on my legs.

Once on a VERY VERY long flight with a long layover….I shaved in a public rest room sink.

  9. ~*~ Jennifer ~*~ said:

Only on Sundays. I’m not really hairy, but I like the smooth feel, and don’t want to distract anyone with hairy pits.

This is another topic altogether probably… but you didn’t have the Brazilian option up there. :giggle: DON’T go and google it… if you don’t know — go ask your husband.

Another funny… I let my dd start shaving. We talked about shaving arms and legs. WELL!! I should have said ARMPITS and legs… (oops!) It grew back and NO it’s not more coarse… she’s probably like me. Fine hair, even on her arms. LOL

I have very little hair now that I am older…I had “ALOT” when I was a kid…lol
    Sorry Ginger..wink

  11. Lori in KY said:

Jennifer, if *I* don’t employ the Brazilian shaving method, then *my husband* better not know anything about it!!!!! LOL :)

  12. Amanda said:

I do shave a few times a week as well because I don’t like being hairy and my husband does not want me hairy either. I feel more feminine beings smooth than to look like him. Everyone has their own ways I know, but it really grosses me out to see a woman with hairy armpits especially, ugh.

  13. Crystal said:

I shave my legs but to the knees and rarely any higher. I shave my pits as well. My panty line is no one’s business but mine and dh’s so I’m not sharing! LOL!

Hubby prefers that I shave so if for no other reason I’d do it for him. :)

  14. Veronica said:

Well, I put that I shave my legs, pits, and bikini line, but I suppose I should mention that I only do my pits with any regularity. I just think underarm hair is icky! :) I am not that old, but odly enough my leg hair is not so bad as to induce me to shave with more regularity, lol.

  15. Bobbie-Jo said:

Katie, I love your polls. It’s like … voting on what I really believe in.

But my option wasn’t there. I used to shave my lower legs, and underarms. But now I have them waxed. By a professional. Then, one day when my hair is thinner and lighter and less (closer to it’s original, natural state), I will stop.

If God put all that hair there, why take it off? (I have the luxury of saying that because I have fairly light, fine hair.)

  16. Sheila said:

    LOVE love love this survey!

Okay, I don’t shave my legs. I shaved them for 3 years, and that was enough for me. It was a real pain. This August it will be 2 years since I shaved them. I actually voted ‘I don’t shave at all and live in another country’, (CANADA! Hey…I feel all international!) and ‘I shave my armpits’, because sometimes I shave my armpits, and sometimes I don’t. A couple months ago I started wanting to stop. If that makes any sense. I am going on a big vacation this summer, and don’t really want to get used to fuzzy pits while we’re away, so my plan is to go hairypits in the fall. So sometimes I let it go for a month or two, and sometimes not, right now anyway.

Hair is NORMAL! God it put it there for a reason, and I have no problem with it. Let the fuzz begin. WooHoo!!! And to be completely honest, I would be thrilled beyond all belief to meet another fuzzy-legged lady. :)

Please, please, please, ladies, no hair is not feminine. If no hair was feminine, God would have made us bald. Having no hair is like being a little girl again, in many respects. I don’t want to look like a little girl. I am going to be the woman God made me to be. :) Just my 2 cents.

    Fuzzy like God made me,
    Sheila

  17. Cassidy said:

I voted pits, legs and pantylines. …it’s what dh likes!! =) ;)

I laughed at Sheila’s “Fuzzy like God made me”….too fun!!!

  18. Elizabeth said:

I voted “every” but really I Epilady my arms, legs, panty line and I wax my upper lip. What can I say - I have Greek blood and I’m hairy! I do this for myself - I’m uncomfortable with all that dark hair!

  19. Kim said:

Oh Katie you never have the option I need. For me, I rarely shave but do every now and then. Hubby would like me to all the time so I need to get on that. Oh only legs. Forget the rest of that nonsense. Legs only.

  20. Sonie716 said:

I am another non shaver living in the USA. I am with shelia this is the way God made me, I have no problems with it and my Dh likes it this way. When I did shave my legs a couple of years ago I would have to shave everyday. Not something I have time for or care to do. I wear long dresses, with long socks, and my dresses are at least three quater length in the sleeve. So no one sees anything anyhow.

  21. Norma said:

I see no reason to shave the panty area, nobody should be seeing this area in public anyway! Before I was a Christian I did, and got terrible bumps too. Later realized this wasn’t public area for all to see anyway. If my swim suit showed that much, I wore shorts over top.

    Dh agrees, don’t shave there!

  22. Sweetmum said:

    “Before I was a Christian I did”……OK

  23. Sheila said:

Sonie716: Yay! So happy to hear of another happy, fuzzy lady. We aren’t gross, are we? I wear long skirts and such a lot too, but last summer I wore shorts and bathing suits with fuzzy legs, and was very happy with it. No one ever chastised me, and I figured hey, if they actually care, then they are just loony. It’s none of my business what the lady next to me thinks about my legs. :) Nor is it any of her business thinking about my fuzzy legs, but that’s another story! :D

  24. Amanda said:

I just wanted to add that shaving your panty line or whatever else does not make you NOT a Christian. My husband and I both prefer that I shave so I do. It doesn’t mean I go out wearing things in public for others to see where I have or have not shaved.

  25. Jen said:

Okay-I want to know what three women (I hope!) shave their armpits but NOT their legs???? Can I say “eeewww”"???

  26. Jen said:

Heavens to Betsy, Amanda! If shaving your panty line is the “measure of salvation”, I’m going to hell in a handcart!!!!! Good grief! Let’s major on the major people. I promise God could CARE LESS whether or not we get a full bikini wax!!!!!!!

  27. Jen said:

Amanda–I hope that came across as my support of your statement! I’m with you! I can shave where and what I want! :-)

  28. Amanda said:

Thanks Jen, I get you! I agree completely. We discussed body hair over on the forum and there I also said that I don’t feel like removing hair is saying that God made me wrong. I love who God made me. But, God made me much more than my hair color or eye color. He made me on the inside and he knows the true me and I really don’t think he cares one lick about whether I perm my hair, color my hair or remove my hair! I’m still me, and where the true beauty matters, on the inside, I am an image of Him.

  29. Amanda said:

I just wanted to edit that to say I am striving to be an image of Him. I doubt I”ll ever completely attain that as I am a sinner and no where near perfect.

  30. Stack said:

    Can I just say…NUNYA!

    Nunya bizness!!

If, when you see me, you can SEE the said area…then you will KNOW if I happen to remove the hair…and if ya CAN’T see it…it’s NUNYA!

(oh, by the way…I actually DID vote…but you are gonna have to week through IPs to figure out my vote)

    PBBBBBBB!

well none of the choices fit me exactly but I chose “I shave every speck” In honesty though I don’t shave my arms lol
