Blueberries
When I tell people about the Ozarks of Missouri I tend to say “This is the land of milk and honey.” Now I can say blueberries too. We went to the blueberry patch near Seymour. The bushes are prolific.

Eventually we split up and each found a bush to clear out.

Donut was great at picking only dark blue berries.

Ummm, he ate some too.

We picked 8 of these 5 qt buckets. They were $9/bucket. You can’t beat that price!!

We will be going back again. :)

Are you going to make some jam?
Those look terrific. And YES it is a fantastic price. I just paid $3 for a tiny little pint of blueberries at our local fruit stand!!!!!
I am so jealous! ;)
So glad to see you are all doing well,
Love,

YUMMY! Those blueberries sure look good. Are you going to just eat them or make jams and pies? Personally, I could probably eat my weight in blueberries plain I love them so much.

Katie,
While you are in Seymour you will have to go to the Mennonite store and eat at Uncle Roosters. Although I don’t think they have the usual health food that you guys love but the homemade furniture is awesome and the food is great! It is a great little town.

I LOVE the picture of Donut eating the blueberries. It reminds me of one of the faces my toddler makes. :)
Nine bucks for five quarts?!? That is awesome!
Did they have blackberries Katie? We may have to go out there this week. I dont know what I’d do with that many though!

Now, you will need to read Blueberries for Sal.. I wish I lived near blueberries like that.
Mmmmmmm! Did you guys make any blueberry syrup?? We just planted blueberry plants this year and can’t WAIT for them to start producing!!
I love “Blueberries for Sal”! I second that recommendation!
$9 for 5 qts?!?! It’s $4 for a pint at our grocery store… sigh… I’ve planted 4 bushes in the past 2 years, and none of them have survived, so sad. I’m determined to keep trying though, especially after the quarts and quarts, and qmore quarts of strawberries we managed to get from our patch this summer- mmmm, now they were yummy!
I buy big bags of frozen blueberries for our pancakes, that’ll have to do for now :-)
Great pics, as usual.
Enjoy them,
