Chicken Coop.

Remember I posted about the fabulous brooder my husband (Don’t click, he hasn’t posted) made.  Well that amazing man also made a portable chicken coop/tractor.  I tell you what, those chickens are living in style.  Shall we call this La Chambre de Poulet? (Thank you Bablefish).  There are two doors on the side and a window on the front.  There is also a drop down door on the back that allows you to get to the nesting boxes but I couldn’t take a picture of it because my Compact Flash card was full.  I was not about to walk all the way upstairs to get a new card.  Not even for you, my gentle readers.  Isn’t it all rustic and country and cool?

I hope those chickens are suitably impressed.  Look at how excited they are to see me.  Isn’t it nice to be loved?

Oh wait.  It’s not me they want.  It’s the bugs.  They FLEW out of the tractor.  It made me giggle.  It *makes* me giggle. Everytime.  Sometimes I guffaw even.  Ok, every time I guffaw.  It’s funny.  I can’t help myself.

Ah, they are so happy.  If only everyone could be content so easily.  Lessons from the chickens.

Unlike the lesson that several unfortunate chickens learned.  When the chicken tractor moves, you move too.  It’s bad if you don’t.  Very bad.

That looks great! I’m surprised you’re able to have chickens there. From your pictures, it appears that you live in a subdivision right now. How soon will they be transferred to the property?

What do your neighbors think of the chickens? (Not that you’d care. :) )

We had neighbors who had a goat, some chickens, and a rooster at one time. I hated that rooster. It woke me up every morning well before I wanted to be. Their chickens were ugly but the goat was neat.

Your chickens, however, are right cute. You chose a nice breed. Maybe one day I’ll have the chance to have some myself.

I gotta say that tractor looks really small! Is Jeff planning to build another one or a bigger one when they grow? Put a Dorf next to it for another pic pretty please! I wanna see it to scale. :)

What are the outside dimensions? How many chickens is it good for? Where can we get the plans?

that’s a really cute chicken coop! I am looking into finding a coop that will be pleasing to the eye and functional too since I live in a subdivision. What do you plan to do when they get bigger?

Are you planning on building a bigger coop later? That does not look like a big enough coop for the number of birds you have. I am not an expert but have kept chicken for a few years. Perhaps you will be on your new place before they are full grown?

The coop looks great though and should last them for a while. Maybe you should hire Jeff out for building projects!
