The New Place.
Ya ya, I know. I was supposed to post yesterday. Will you ever forgive me? You see things got busy and we all ended up at the new house which is good for you because that means more pictures. the good news is most of the new house is now painted. My superman stayed until 2am painting and I tell you what, between the cleaning and painting that house is looking less like the inside of a decrepit smokers lung (think about that for a second, I’ll wait) and more like a cute little cabin to put my family in. Here’s the outside.
It’s little and small and dare I say tiny, make no mistake about it. From what I am told we’ve got about 1100 sq ft there NOT including the 1.5 car garage on the side. We plan to make good use of that garage and eventually acquire more out buildings. You see that deck, that deck will be so fun. Jeff and I can sit out there in the morning and have our coffee and then we can sit out there in the evening and have our ice cream. Can there be anything bad in the world when you have have a deck like that? I think not.
And this is the view from the deck. This is the main pasture. I just coined that phrase. I’m not sure what we will call it but right now main pasture works. See the weeds? Brush Hog anyone? Goats? Please? Anything? You don’t want me to go into detail about the blood sucking parasites that live in those weeds. And the grasshoppers, oh the grasshoppers!!! That area to the left, that’s an acre of fenced land that I have laid claim to for a garden. I know, stop drooling.
Here is a view to the south and more of the garden area.
And looking to the north west is the barn. It has 4 stalls and wasps.
I’ll give you a better tour later. Right now I have to pull cockleburs out of my daughter’s hair.

It looks great! I am drooling over that garden space! Love the deck, I think y’all will be very happy there. The house may be small but look at all that space to run, jump and be kids. Enjoy.

Woohoo!!!! I’m so tickled for y’all!!!
I’m so confused. What happened to the property? Is this adjacent to it? or someplace totally different? Are you still building on the property and this is a temporary house?
Yes, It looks just wonderful and yes I am jealous, but I am thinking the same way Kelly is. What about the property? Are you selling it? Are you using it just for vacationing? Or is this new house a temporary house? Please let us know!! :)
Oh… a small house means less to clean. ;) I’d be happy! BIG outdoors, LITTLE indoors — that will be perfect!
Love grows best in small spaces :). Um yes, I am jealous…who wouldn’t be!! Nice place and I am excited to see how you make use of everything.
Katie – I have a pgym goat named Farley that I would be willing to sell you. Our neighbors are NOT pleased about him. We live in Kansas. He is a sweetie!

Looks good to me. So…will you be adding onto the house, or building a new one?
Congratulations! It looks fantastic and the deck looks even better. It looks like it has great potential. I am looking forward to more pictures.
These tidbits are so tantalizing!!!
WE NEED MORE INFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:)
I know you are just a mom to 12, moving and who knows what else… I need to hold my horses. :)
Sorry.
Love to you,
Chas
Yay!
Thanks for the update.
I’m officially jealous! It’s beautiful! And I can’t wait to see how you squeeze your whole family in that square footage!
Adorable and the view! Farmer W and my goats will take the barn with wasps…now get some guinea hens and that will help with the grasshoppers. After the goats and guinea take care of some of (cough) farm “fun”, I’ll join you for a cup of coffee on that deck and watch the corn grow!
WHAT!!! Where have I been?
What about the creek? It is lovely, but I’m so discombobulated!!
More info please.
Katie, are you trying to confuse us on purpose? ;) Did you sell the creekfront property?
I love this, though. This is sorta what we have. Little house, but lots of space/potential on the outside. I’m lovin’ it, and you will too!
I so enjoy your blog. Your new place looks wonderful. You already have chickens so guineas will not be a stretch for you and they are wonderful at eating ticks and other pests.
Chickens LOVE grasshoppers!
Congrats on the house!
But where is this house located, Katie? Where is the creekside property? Please, you gotta give a little with the info…the suspense is getting to me. You know, Laura in UT is absolutely right about the barn for the goats and Farmer W…the chickens, etc., for the fields, a few houses for the martins(as in birds!!!they eat a lot of insects…like mosquitos!!!) And even though I live close to Laura in UT I remember those little biting critters from living in Iowa for the first 30 years of my life! Have you had any problem with chiggers…another one of those nice little biting insects that you never see, until it is to late!! LOL Oh yeah, if Laura gets to come and sit on your deck I get to come too! I had a beautiful 12′X20′ deck on my house in Iowa and I loved it. We even kept the kids wading pool on the deck! Well anyway, I am totally green about the gills with ENVY over your garden space you can hear me sigh about all that beautiful space just waiting for someone to plant seeds and plants. I’m with everyone else…small house…large outside space. Well…except on a rainy day when no one can venture outside without full foul weather gear! Have fun Katie…I hope you can find time to relax a bit…you’ve got a lot of adventures awaiting you (and your family)! Now…where did you say your address was going to be???!
Okay….. What on earth is going on???? Did you give up the land? Where is your new place? Is it farther from us? I have friends near Mansfield if that’s where it is. You’re killing eveyone here!!!! LOL!
You meant “bush” hog, right??!! Gotta get that country lingo down!
Ditto on the grasshoppers. The chickens will take care of them in short order. They are the perfect pets. Eat bugs, lay eggs and poop fertilizer.
Actually, I’ve always heard it called “brush” hog, and we’ve lived here all our lives.
I always wondered why it was called “brush” hog, when it clearly says “bush” hog on the actual piece of equipment, but that’s what people call it ’round here. :-)
Things that make you go hmmm.
Well, I guess it clears out “brush” AND “bushes”!
Wow! The property looks great. And yes, I am so wanting to move there. Like others have said ‘a smaller home is just less to clean’. Good organization is the key as is decluttering. But you already know that!
Congrats!
It all looks wonderful to me! Enjoy it!
Yes, dying to know about the property too!!! But I admit…the place is cute. Really cute. Like…’I want to move in too’ cute. Please? :D
