Things I Like.
I take pictures and blog about things I like. Generally speaking. I mean, you don’t see pictures of severed limbs and such. Who wants to save those images for posterity?
Here is a thing I like and I want to share it with you. This is The Mountain Church. Yep, it’s family integrated. We meet at the YMCA because we are glamorous that way.

You can see we have a big band with the rock star lights. Because we know what’s important. Actually, that there is Pastor Scott, his wife Kim and their son, Michael. I know, it’s just so typical, so expected. Only Kim doesn’t play the piano up there so I’m not really sure what her qualifications are to be a pastor’s wife. I keep meaning to talk to her about that.

This here is the church currently. There are several families and we all sit with our kids and we even listen and take notes. So weird, I know.

Scott is pretty charismatic, but not in a bad way. He is also "spirit-filled", or so I am told, but only in the best way possible. He likes to be clear about these things.

But this is what it’s all about.

It’s about families worshiping God together. And learning together and fellowshipping together.

And holding and training our children instead of allowing someone else to do that job.

It’s a beautiful thing.

Kinda like how I would imagine Jesus saw things happening.

It doesn’t get any better than that.

And I have to add a side note. Last Sunday, little Asher, pictured above, heard his sister playing volleyball and she said "Service!" as she was serving. Asher then walked around the court saying "Service! Service!" which Jenna said was so cute. My son, Jonah, walks around saying one of the few words he can say and that is "Poop!" He has a song to it and everything. I’m so proud!

I agree… families need to be together to worship. Our church offers the other stuff like children’s church… but we opt to keep our youngins with us, and everyone is cool about it. :)
I am happy you guys are enjoying your new church. :)
Love,
Chas
OH what a dream! Katie I am so happy for y’all! (and a smidge jealous…)
Thank you for sharing, the church sounds lovely!
Looks fun! I love having my kids with me in church.
I’m envious!
You have found a wonderful blessing in that there church.
That is what we’ve been looking for, but 4 hours is a bit of a drive each Sunday.
This sounds great. Blessings.
We wholeheartedly agree! Where we worship (and our sister-congregations) have no sunday school, children’s church, or nursery. Our children are with us from day 1 and i would not want it any other way. They can (and do) learn from a very younge age how to sit still and be quiet. Our little sone even says “Amen!” at the end of the prayers. How sweet. Yes, I think families worshiping all together is the way it should be.
Guess I should’ve posted my reply on this one, instead of the turtlology one.
Did you meet Gretchen & her family?
Love, Jen
Yep, I would have to totally agree… that is exactly how I would imagine Jesus seeing it.
Glad you are feeling at home.
Im a bit late getting over here, but I love your church. I might just move to Missouri, twisters and all! :)
