Sunday With Friends

So last Sunday we invited Robyn’s family over to hang out on the farm after church.  Her daughter, Emily, took turns cornering people.  She would then turn on her charm until the person she cornered had caved in and given her whatever it is that she wanted.  Which usually consisted of lots of attention and conversation.

But here she picked the wrong kid to schmooz.  It’s not that Jonah dislikes people his own size, it’s just that, well, his communication skills are not the best.  So I am certain that during this encounter that lasted about a minute Emily was busy saying "I wuv you." because that is her favorite phrase and Jonah was replying "Poooooop."  They really hit it off.

The kids played and played and then they ran and ran and gosh, I don’t think they so much as said boo to us until much later in the evening.  The sun started to set.  It cast these yellow rays across the baby blue sky.  We stood in awe and wonder.

I ran off to snap pictures and lookie there, Robyn rocked my baby to sleep.  I asked her what her yearly salary would be if I wanted to keep her full time and she said "You couldn’t afford me."  Not really, she offered to move in.  Darn it, why did we buy an 1100 sq ft house?  And to think I might have slept through the night.  Let’s have a moment of silence while we contemplate that, shall we.  Thank you.

The setting sun did nothing to deter the children.  I love these dusky type photos because I can really capture the feel of the night.  You see those blobs of blur?  The blue blob is Lina and the red blob is Emily.  And they were mostly blurry in real life too.

The kids began a roaring game of tag.  It involved alot of screaming and running around like a herd of elephants.

You know what happens after children run around like wild animals for several hours?  Oh yes, it is a wonderful thing.

John commandeered Robyn and I some chairs and we spent the majority of our time chatting and watching the chickens and children.  It was quite serene.  Everyone cohabited and communed peacefully.  I tell you what, it was beautiful.

The guys created a fire because well, they are guys after all.  I don’t know why I was shocked.   Jessica, our barrista, made everyone coffee.  That girl is great.

And I saved the best for last.  Emily loved chasing chickens.

I have deep pockets Robyn.  Even if Heidi turned down my offer to live with us that doesn’t mean I won’t pursue Emily.

Just watch me.

Hilarious! We’re bringing our tent next week, you know, but only if the campsite comes with cute squishy baby legs. ;-)

Now, about your photograpy skills. I’ll give you the Lina/Emily blur, yes, they were blurry all evening, but the guys and the fire? I guess their coffee was giving them the jitters. LOL.

Jonah looks sooooooooo grown up in those pics!!!! He has lost the baby look. I’m astonished…it seemed to happen overnight.

Emily is a doll……..LOVE her dress and bloomers!

What an absolutely delightful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I love visiting my brother’s farm. I kiss the kids goodbye and see them only if they are hungry, which is usually as the sun is setting. :) It’s a good life indeed. :)

Oh to have a farm. Or to be able to grow ANYTHING, even children! Children need the outdoors just as much as plants do. I don’t come here very often or else I would get jealous. I thoroughly enjoy every visit.

I must tell you, elephants actually walk silently. My children remind me of this animal fact every time I holler at them for running in the house like a “herd of elephants”. So I change that to buffalo. A stampede is thunderous, is it not?
