<>

That is the best example I've read for what the carb addiction felt like to me as well. Exactly like the body seeking and seeking and seeking, and me trying to find what it needed by massive amounts of "more of the same", carbs of course, which does not work and only promotes the cycle becoming more and more vicious.

Typically, whole foods are not dangerous. Potatoes and whole grains as carbs are one thing.... but white sugar and corn syrup in cake is a whole 'nother issue. I haqve yet to sit down and eat chicken soup with some potatoes and be addicted to it... but I have eaten cake and become addicted to it. It is bc the body knows that it needs something else to make the meal whole enough to be digested well. So, the body begins searching for more to even the table, so to speak. It can become a repeating event - eat simple carbs, desire more balance, eat more cars, desire more balance, on and on....

But sugars do feed cancer. So, simple sugars should be avoided if you have cancer. If I had cancer, I would avoid most, if not all carbs. But I don't think a complete avoidance of all carbs is necessary to avoid cancer. It would be beneficial to avoid the simple carbs though.

Your brain relies on glucose to function. Not protein and not fat. I learned about this due to my daughter getting type 1 diabetes. Protein Power and Dr Atkins type diets throw the words ketones and ketosis around like it isn't a big deal. Ketones are a huge stress on your body. When you produce them It is because your body is going to its fat stores and burning the fat which can build up dangerouse acids called ketones. It sounds good, who wouldn't want to burn some fat off, but it is like having acid running around your blood stream and your very delicate kidneys have to filter it out. Also keontes can lead to diabetic ketoacidosis coma. NOT good, my daughter was there right before being diagnosed. Blood sugar 755 and producing large ketones (they do come in sizes). Scary business. I think things have to be kept in moderation. I find your blog in regards to Nourishing traditions and eating "whole" foods on the right track. I always think, if this were the answer or one of the answers to a cure for cancer wouldn't doctors be using it more ? I get very frustrated with "research" sometimes because they always talk about how close they are and then the mouse dies... my kingdom for a cure or at least ingestible insulin. or a survining mouse. Sorry I rant..we are heading to the endocrinologist on thursday and I am always a nut case before hand. Sorry:)

Granddaughter? Huh? Did I miss something? I thought your oldest was about 13? Or did you mean MD's granddaughter instead of yours?

I am stunned (well maybe not stunned in a surprised way) but speechless nonetheless. I'd like to think if I had cancer, I'd give them up. But would I give up carbs before hand to prevent cancer? Hmmmm......

That was a very interesting article. It's giving me a lot to think about.
And, yeah, carbs are VERY addictive.
