Old Scraggly Trees.

We have several old, dead trees standing around out here.  I sometimes stand and stare at them.  One day long ago they were alive.  What did they look like then?  Did kids play in them?

Do trees die all at one time?  Do they die slowly one branch at a time?  I’m just not sure.  Soon this tree will come down and it will heat my house this winter.  This farm life is so symbiotic.

I don’t know about trees in Missouri……..but trees around here die when they get cracked in half because of a hurricane wind.

  • I wonder if sometimes they just don’t “wake up” in the spring…

Or, you know, hurricane winds would DEFINATELY do it. Sorry Mo.

    Yours sure is pretty, katie.

    Katie,
Would you mind sharing how you get the dark frame around your pictures? It really is pretty, especially in this photo.
    What camera are you using?

    Thanks,
    Beth

  • We have a bunch of dead trees, too. And some not-so-healthy ones as well. I was just pondering tonight what we could do for the sick ones to improve their health. DH’ll chainsaw the dead ones. We don’t have a woodstove yet, though. We want to remodel the place first.
