Treasure Hunt
The weather was nice and we were needing some time outside to run around. So we had a treasure hunt. Jeff and I headed out on the quad to create a path and think up clues while the kids ate lunch at the house. Then I wrote the clues as we went along. We came back to the house and I typed them up and printed them out. Jeff cut them apart and went back to put them in their appropriate places.
Start by the tank that holds fuel but not gas.
You know ours is empty but still you can pass.
Look to the West and there you will see
The thing that is called “Dad’s Old Green Machine”.
Here are the kids looking for the clue near "Dad’s Old Green Machine". Unfortunately it was missing because the goat ate it while he was finished mowing the grass.

Now you have but one wee prize.
Turn yourself South and open your eyes.
There you spy a grassy path,
The first one is yours (we can call that math).
Down you go, by and by you’ll see
A two stump seat made by a tree.
The grassy path.

Now you’ve found the old dead tree,
Continue straight and follow me.
The pasture green you have found,
take a right and go around.
The pasture gate you will go through,
a fallen tree has a clue for you.
The old dead tree in our pasture.

Going through the pasture gate.

Shortly after this picture the kids and I got separated because their course went places that the stroller could not go. Then darkness began to fall.
The meandering path is taking you up.
Don’t go too fast or you’ll miss your next stop.
Keep your eyes open for the 3 legged tree.
It’s close to your camp spot. Oh golly, oh gee.
Under the bark you’ll find your last prize.
Now head to the fire for your final surprise.
Finding the meandering path.

All told there were 15 clues and it took about 15 minutes to find them all and discover the "treasure".
S’ mores. My kids have had S’ mores TWICE now in their short lives.

Jeff was the stick sharpener.

Jessica wanted a picture of her S’ more. She was really happy, not sure why the silly face.

Oh, it tastes good.
Donut in his pink snow bib overalls. That poor boy with two older sisters.
Jodi had a blast too. No S’ mores for babies.

Oh how fun! My parents used to do that for my friends and I, it’s one of my fondest childhood memories! Ours didn’t end with S’mores, just roasted marshmallows. I have never had a S’more
How fun! What a great piece of land you have! We do a little hunt like that for birthday presents. They will treasure these memories you’re making.
We really need to do S’mores again. I’ve only had two in my entire life and on one of them, the chocolate fell out!
What a great way to make something special even more fun!! S’mores are always a good time! =) Your goat is hilarious! lol What’s up w/Jessica not wanting to wear long sleeves at the least? Isn’t she an AZ girl?! I’m impressed w/how well you have all acclimated! ;-) And the pic of Jonah in pink snow pants must be good for a wedding collage for sure! Too cute!
I used to do treasure hunts with the kids I babysat all the time. Sadly, I have never done it with my own kids. Shame on me! You are the totally coolest mom ever. Oh, and Jeff is cool too. ;)
So much FUN! Oh, and I am LOL at Jessica’s attire compared to everyone else’s. I have one of those hot natured happy go lucky kids too.
