Quilt for Grandma

In lieu of a cook along post that I had planned today for Broccoli Soup which is really yummy but at which the children and husband threatened a revolt if I made it one more time this month I bring you a crafty post.

I am making a quilt…two quilts actually, but we will get to that later… and one is a hand print quilt for my grandma.  The other is an embroidered (by the kids) quilt for my dad. It was supposed to be done last year but we got busy and well, it never got done.  We are working diligently and should have it done by January.  Ssshhhh…don’t tell him.

Back to grandma’s quilt.  We started by making squares with each child’s hand prints.

At times it was challenging.

And there were mistakes made.

But in the end we got everyone’s prints.

And we used normal household items to facilitate this.

After I sewed and sewed and sewed this is what they looked like.  All put together in a quit top.  Now I am working on the back and I need to embroider each child’s name on their square.  Then I’ll free hand quilt it.  I plan to have it done early this week.

Stay tuned.
