Art Class

Not too long ago we had some great weather.  On great weather days we skip formal, sit down schooling.  There are enough rain days here that if we only school on rain days we will meet our 2 week 500 hour requirement.  Isn’t that wonderful?

On the other hand, sometimes these silly kids school themselves!  Before dashing out the door one day these two girls said “Can we take a pencil and paper out?” and I replied “Sure, but if I find pencils in the yard I’m going to beat you” “Absolutely, Honey!” and off they went.  A little later I went out to enforce my pencil Nazi rules check on those angelic children and what did I see?  They were having art class right there in the barn!!

I have NO IDEA where those little plastic chairs came from.  Seriously.  They must have blown into the yard or something.  Not that I have anything against blue and green plastic chairs I just know we’ve never purchased any.  But there they were sitting on a palate between the straw and hay (er, I think) creating their little hearts out.

Junie had such great subject matter.  How could her masterpiece not be amazing?

Then when it was time for lunch the girls found themselves blocked in by a very large bovine type creature.  Do you know that Domino has never even hinted at being aggressive, he’d probably let us pelt him with rotten oranges and just lay there and chew his cud, but we are all intimidated by him (except Jenna.  I have to say that or she’ll leave a nasty gram on my comments).  I think it is just a matter of girth and weight.  It’s frightening, I tell ya.

Oh Domino…Domino…here cowy, cowy, cowy steery, steery, steery.  You’re a good bovine.

And after all that time invested and the dangerous terrain that was crossed and the fearsome animals they encountered the artwork was worth it.

Great job June!!  And we counted that as school.
