Barn Stalls

When we moved here the barn had 5 "bays", for lack of a better word, but really only 3 different areas.  One small area on the east side that has a gate so the animals can’t get in.  We made that area into enclosed storage for all of our stuff that won’t fit in this tiny house.  There was another stall on the west side that we put a gate on that we store hay in and milk the cow in.

With the arrival of 4 little bull calves (They aren’t steers yet.  That’ll be an interesting post.) we found we needed a way to keep them contained so they didn’t…well, drink all the milk.  So look what Jeff did!!  He made stalls!!  He went out one morning and then *poof* that night we had a place for small bovines to sleep.  He’s amazing.  He even reused some gates.

And since Jeff complained about this post and the fact that I cut his head off in the picture I am including the picture below.  See, Honey, there’s your head.  And your hand.  And your hand on your head/face.  I guess straw is an allergen?  Oh, and that is the largest of the 3 stalls.  Isn’t it wonderful?

And there was this little guy who had the scours (which is a nice word for diarrhea) and was not looking so great when we got him.  Jenna doctored him up, even force fed him by syringe once or twice.  His name is Snip and now he is good as new.

And he doesn’t leave unsightly splashy marks on the stall walls anymore.
