New Ducks
Monday I drove into town to go to the library book sale. While I was in town I picked up 18 more fuzzies for Junie.
This is an Ancona duck They are spotted and each one has a different pattern. They are a rare breed. Junie wanted you to see this one that has a mohawk.
This is a Cayuga duckling. They are jet black over their entire body including beak and little webbed feet. They are a rare breed as well.
And Khaki Campbells. They are prolific egg layers and super cute.
On the day I took these pictures the ducklings were playing outside in the chicken tractor. Ducks take water in their mouths and then tip their heads up to swallow. It’s quite comical.
But not as funny as watching them waddle run.
Or as funny as placing a pan of water on the ground in front of them. First they evaluate. Is it water?
Then one will get brave and test the water.
And if he survives it’s all over. In they all go.
How’s the water? Great! Come on in!!
And then it’s a pool party.

We had another kidding this morning. A cute white doeling. I’ll take pictures soon.

I like the look of your chicken tractor, did you use a specific pattern? website? book? Your children are delightful and your home looks like a wonderful place to be. Wish we were closer I’d come to your weekend party!
Are any of these ducks for eating? If so, how have you worked that out with Junie?
Oh how cute! I want duckies!!!
