Someone’s Sick
Poor Butterscotch, she dropped two kids, one of which was deformed and died. The other died the next day and while we were doctoring the little buck Butterscotch got a bad case of mastitis.

We tried milking her every two hours. It was a process she didn’t enjoy.

We tried penicillin and then we resorted to using LA200 (which is what we probably should have used in the first place).
Now Butterscotch is on the mend and we are building our arsenal and knowledge.

Katie, when you have a bit of time, try researching the use of Apple Cider Vinegar for the treatment of mastitis. We have had great success using it for a variety of ailments with our goats in the past.
Ouch! that poor Goat, I’ve had thrush and that hurts like hell, I can only imagine how much mastitis would hurt.
Hey Katie, sorry this is so late. I’ve been away from my computer.
We use Storey’s Guide to Raising Sheep as a quick reference (he has one specifically for Dairy Goats). It’s an easy quick reference when we have sick sheep.
Did you dry her off?
We also had our vet order vitamin c powder to sprinkle on the feed of sheep in need of an extra boost.
Hope things are better for Butterscotch by now.
