Garden Replant

Since we have had some warm weather here I headed out to the garden to try again.  I’m nothing if not persistent.  Or maybe I’m just a slow learner.  But anyway, it was time to start all over again and I enlisted the kids to help.  Because I am lazy like to encourage team work and build a sense of purpose in my kids.

I gave them each a tool (and let me tell you, we need more of those little claw things!) and off they went.  I began planting all along the fence some of the 101 tomato and pepper plants my friend Robyn gave me.  I’m so excited about those tomato and pepper plants.  I am forever indebted to her.  Like someday Jeff should help Jay build an addition on a house.  And I’m going to give her all the peppers and tomatoes she can eat.

Those kids worked and worked never once stopping and complaining or arguing with each other.  I’m serious.  And I’m only telling you so I can document the first time the littles worked together without incident.

And they finished the whole thing.  They turned it all over, fluffed it all up and visited with each other happily while I got other things done. Those kids are amazing.

Now it’s my turn.  I have to put seeds in the ground.  We’ll see if I’m amazing.

  • How wonderful to see kids working in the garden. Our garden is growing beautifully and we just started picking (we are in Florida). My kids are enjoying picking much more than planting and preparing the soil (shocker :). I pray your garden will bless you with all kinds of goodies and I can’t wait to see what you get!

  • If you wish, you can plant marigolds in the holes in your bricks and they will make the garden look pretty and keep away unwanted bugs!
