Time to Plant
The kids have been eager to help at every stage of the garden.

I’ve been excited to involve them in the process. It is so much easier for me to do projects with the kids when the weather is warm.

There we were with all of these extra holes in the concrete blocks that form the garden beds. And when someone commented and suggested planting flowers in those spaces I thought to myself "Oh ya, that’s what we were going to do."

The kids set to work with Jessica overseeing which person was planting which seeds (we’ll skip the morning glories in the garden, thankyouverymuch). Don’t you just love it when the kids get older and can manage a couple younger kids. Life is bliss.

The sunflowers and marigolds and Mexican hat (thank you Robyn!) and wild flowers and too many more to name. I think Jodi played in the garden with us for 2 hours. That girl loves being outside.

Even Jenna was recruited to put blue potatoes in the ground. Have you ever eaten blue potatoes? They taste like other potatoes but they are blue.

The boys were planting some of the 101 tomato and pepper plants that Robyn gave us. Most of them are now in the ground and feeling happy.
And that makes me feel happy too!

Your friend Robyn has the right idea starting her seeds in stryofoam cups. I did that last year with potting soil in the bottom half and seed starter soil in the top half. Its been my best seed sprouter ever and this year was even better.
Don’t forget NOT to plant too tall of flowers in front of where the sun hits the garden first. It will shade your garden where you don’t want it too.
