Star is Home
We bought Star from a wonderful woman named Kathy. She not only brought Star to us (from Arkansas!!) but also gave Jenna a crash course riding lesson and let us borrow her tack!!

Kathy’s daughter Christine walked Star around and introduced her to the goats and Domino and, of course, Jenna.

Then it was time for Star to be saddled. Kathy, once again, showed us how it is done. We are eternally grateful to her for her help. Star is a dream.

She loves the attention the other kids showered on her. She faithfully did everything Jenna told her to do.

After Kathy and family left, Jenna desaddled/dissaddled/unsaddled (I’m still learning the lingo) the horse and I jokingly said "Oh, you are going to ride her bareback, eh?" and Jenna said "Sure!" and then she did. Jenna even rode no-hands!!

Star is sweet as pie!! She always stops to take grass out of the kids’ hands. She doesn’t want anyone to feel slighted.

Then Jeff got brave and he hopped on as well. I about wet my pants when Star began to trot and Jeff’s life flashed before his eyes.

Isn’t she good looking? She has a personality to match!! I’ve never been a horse person but Star might make a believer out of me.

Yea!!
She’s beautiful! I’m sure Jenna is on top of the world! Enjoy her!
She’s beautiful! I got to take riding lessons for 3 years in my late teens. But with my pelvis trying to split in two, I don’t think I’ll ever be riding a horse again.
Oh, my Olivia will be so very envious if she sees this! What a lovely horse! You are so lucky!
What an incredible blessing. Jenna will do incredible with her. She has a major animal talent. Beautiful horse!
Oh, she’s gorgeous! Jenna is going to have so much fun with her.

She is so beautiful. Jenna is going to learn so much and make a lot of good memories with her.
What a wonderful thing to get a horse! but I agree with the above comment, she sure does need some groceries…she’ll blossom though with all the care she’ll get! Do you have 4H there? It’s a great program for kids, you can learn tons, and depending on what’s available to you you could join with goats, pigs, and dairy calves not to mention horses! Sorry I’m a 4H leader and can’t say enough good about it! ps…she has a wonderfully kind eye!
4-H would be great for her, and you could use a lot of it for homeschool. Can I urge you to buy her a riding helmet? My children’s instructor would never have even let them climb on the horse without a helmet.
LOL!! Told you you’d get lots of advice. Having been doing this for 30+ years, I never stop learning, and recieving “helpful hints” from all corners. As I already had mentioned, your pasture is wonderful and a little additional grain will put back on the weight she lost during the last month of storms we had here. And the helmet, I would again encourage you to get one at a local store so it can be fitted, though I think all of us rode for decades w/o one and never thought anything of it. And your small pen there is pretty safe, but it always better to error on the side of caution. The saddle is a Hereford 15 inch seat 3/4 Quarter Horse bars. More than a 15 1/2 is going to be too big for Jenna. But make sure the skirtting doesn’t go too far back, because her hip will hit it. Again you may need an riser pad on the withers to get it to sit right. And I found her blanket and will give that to you when I pick up the saddle.
