Sunset Thinking
Do you ever watch the sunset
And just sit and think about things
Just you and the sky and darkness
Giving your thoughts some wings
Perhaps you’re got some troubles
And don’t know what to do
Or you just plain need to get away
To spend a little time with you

The serenity gives you a chance
To put things in perspective
Life can be overwhelming at times
And a sunrise can be reflective
So when the sky lights up next time
Let your gaze do some drinking
Soak up and the amazing sights
And do some sunset thinking!

I have some ideas. My friend Carey has loaned me a book called The Irresistible Revolution
and it has stirred my thoughts. I’ll post more on that later and the project that may come from it.
I also think maybe you guys might want to see more about everyday farm life. I don’t think you realize that Jefferson the pig gets out of his pen almost everyday and more than once he has been waiting patiently at the back door for us to bring him his next meal.
And we lost 2 more broilers today. Stupid birds. Stupid humans.
This is not a broiler. This is a Rhode Island Red and they are smart. Tell me, why don’t the beady orange eyes scare me?

This week I was presented with the very real possibility that I might be washing my clothes by hand the way Robyn does. My wonderful workhorse of a washing machine started making a funny noise (which I ignored) and then stopped draining all together (which could not be ignored) and Jeff was forced to search the Internet until he found the likely problem. A sock. Yep, a small piece of clothing was likely stuck in the pump. And on the same month that our property taxes ($480) are due too!! That bites, eh? Oh and the small piece of clothing was not a sock, it was a nursing pad. Geesh!! And we will be using a mesh bag for smallish items now.
After calling all over he found the part ($120 later). Hello beans and rice the rest of the month!!

Isn’t Jeff amazing? Think what it would have cost if I tried to fix it!!!

Jessica came to live with us when she was 2 years old. From that time she desired a pet bunny. That was always an impossibility due to her behavioral issues. For 7 years we have been saying "Someday." Someday there will be time for a big responsibility like caring for another living being. Someday she would be able to keep herself safe and possibly an animal as well. Someday the impulsiveness would not be so pronounced.

That day has come.
Jessica received a bunny and hutch for her birthday. She ADORES that bunny. She holds and rocks him for numerous hours each day. She sings him songs. She gives him warm water in the morning. She checks his food repeatedly through the day. She sings to him songs of her own creation.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa B.
