Cost of Pork – Grow Your Own

The whole time we have had these little piggies (that then became big piggies) they have been the bane of my existence.  A pain in my neck.  A constant frustration.  They escaped constantly, they squealed loudly, they became big and intimidating although not because they had done anything to make us intimidated, we just read [...]

Star Goes to the Salon

When we bought Star we were told that eventually she would need her hooves trimmed. We called the ferrier because we figured we may as well get it done sooner as opposed to later.

Imagine our surprise when I found a ferrier half a mile down the road.  Isn’t that convenient?  Out he came [...]

The Ducks.

These animals are getting so big.  We can almost watch them grow!!  They are starting to feather out and a couple have even started quacking like real ducks.

This is what I do in my spare time.  I make puddles for the ducks.  If you call them "duck, duck, duck, duck." they come waddling over.  Then [...]

Bull Riding.

This is how things used to be.  Since we didn’t own an equine type creature the kids made due.  I’m so glad we bought those bull calves.

The kids fashioned halters out of this and that.  Then, without fear, they jumped on and … they tried to ride.

Calves are temperamental creatures and don’t particularly [...]

Star is Home

We bought Star from a wonderful woman named Kathy.  She not only brought Star to us (from Arkansas!!) but also gave Jenna a crash course riding lesson and let us borrow her tack!!

Kathy’s daughter Christine walked Star around and introduced her to the goats and Domino and, of course, Jenna.

Then it was time for [...]

Look…

What I just did.  Star will arrive Thursday or Friday.  Jenna is turning cartwheels.

Ducks

Day 5 of no Internet.  Surely I am in a groove now.  The week is coming to a close.  Have I enjoyed my Internet free time so much that I’ll never come back?  Have I realized that I need the internet so I *can* do things with the kids and enjoy it.  Hopefully I’ve come [...]

Kittens

Day 2 of no Internet.  Do you suppose I am still trying to figure out what to do with myself without the brainless lap top screen to entertain me?  Or have I adapted easily and filled my days with meaning and purpose.  We will see.
If you recall I had to make a rather ridiculous bribe [...]

Goaty Update

Did I tell you about this little doeling?  I can’t remember.  The last couple weeks have been a blur.

Her ears crack me up.  Do you think the kids at school will make fun of her?  I feel your pain little doeling.

And there is this little girl.  She’s a cutie.  And someone please explain to me [...]

When You Are a Kid.

Life is fresh and new when *you* are fresh and new.  Every day is a new and exciting adventure.

I took these pictures couple weeks ago and back then the triplets were a little smaller.

But just as fun.  Here’s how it works.  Someone disturbs your slumber by pointing a big black box at you and [...]
