Day 4 of no Internet. Don’t you wonder what kind of fun things I am getting done? I do.
We got 101 pepper and tomato plants planted. Can you see them all along the fence line? I intend to drown myself in peppers and tomatoes this summer. You are welcome to join us.
Another thing I read [...]

The kids have been eager to help at every stage of the garden.
I’ve been excited to involve them in the process. It is so much easier for me to do projects with the kids when the weather is warm.
There we were with all of these extra holes in the concrete blocks that form [...]

Since we have had some warm weather here I headed out to the garden to try again. I’m nothing if not persistent. Or maybe I’m just a slow learner. But anyway, it was time to start all over again and I enlisted the kids to help. Because I am lazy like to encourage team work [...]

Remember all the work that went into those garden beds we put in? And Jeff spent lots of money and the boys did lots of shoveling. Then we planted and waited. And waited. And waited. But the gardening gods were not smiling on us. In fact, the gardening gods think that the dirt we paid [...]

There are some things I am good at and some things I am not so good at. Training children – check. Making chicken broth – check. Choosing a winner for my book give away – Errr….umm…. I’m sorry. I keep forgetting. I’m a creature of habit and routine, it seems. I’ll get right on that [...]

Oh hi, I was supposed to give away a book and I forgot. In celebration of us finally planting our tomatoes I am giving away Kim’s favorite book and one that I am very fond of. (ooh, dangling participle. Does that bother anyone? Good.)
From Publishers Weekly [...]

 Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells, and cockle shells,
And pretty maids all in a row.
And cement blocks. Don’t forget the blocks.
Today’s Real Food Wednesday is hosted by Ann Marie (aka: Cheeseslave) and the theme is What Are You Planting?
I finally got my tomatoes in the dirt [...]

I thought we were working on a big, lovely garden. Jeff and the boys had been working so hard and things were finally coming together. Then it snowed.
And it was beautiful. Even if it was fluffy snow that is really not good for sledding.
There’s my littlest daughter son all dressed in pink. And he is [...]

The day that we were filling the garden beds with dirt was a busy one. The weather was nice so we were outside all day (Baby got a sunburn that disappeared the next day, thank you Sally Fallon). My youngest son was eager to get helping.
It’s a good thing we have little shovels that [...]

Things have been getting done. There are many many pieces to this project. And they are strewn about my yard. Oh how I desire to return to orderliness.
That’s what I am talking about.
Ya, baby!! The weed block (stuff) is in.
The beds have been put in. Jeff style. Which means perfect.
Even if it kills us.
